The project Crafty Builders sort of began as a natural progression in the evolution of our studio and its members. The individuals comprising our creative team became parents, and the idea for the project sprang forth from their hands-on parenting experience and challenges faced in taking care of their own and their friends’ children.
The family play time spent playing with simple building blocks, had us observing its precious effects on our children’s development, and gave us opportunity to learn as parents. We realized our toddlers were highly interested in movement and action, and in simple character interactions.
We undertook the development of the project, working closely with our children, or rather playing with them, trying out new possibilities and observing their reactions, amongst them the unabashed joy of destroying our fleeting wooden block creations. We then did our best to translate our personal experiences into a visual language for wider audiences, while attempting to bring together the physical act of play with the animations by making them a tool of inspiration.
As creative individuals, we fell in love with the wonder and charm of creative play possibilities inherent in the Crafty Builders animation project. We approach this project with great passion and excitement, and are doing our best to translate our own feeling of enchantment into a unique animation style and narration.
